Just eight mares have been confirmed for Saturday’s 2015 Millie Fox Stakes (1300m) at Rosehill Gardens, offering punters exceptional value from a betting standpoint and several key opportunities to place a winning wager.
Catkins ($1.90) is without doubt the class mare in the 2015 Millie Fox Stakes field, and understandably maintains status as outright favourite ahead of Avoid Lightning ($3.60) and Lilliburlero ($4.40) with leading online bookie Ladbrokes.com.au.
Will Catkins continue her perfect start in 2015 through the Millie Fox Stakes, or will one of her talented rivals cause an upset?
Lilliburlero finished an agonizingly-close second in the Breeders’ Classic first-up, and is sure to react favourably to a step-up in distance in the 2015 Millie Fox Stakes. A proven performer over the distance, track and early in her racing campaigns, the daughter of Redoute’s Choice won the Group 3 Triscay Stakes (1200m) and finished second in the Group 3 Roy Higgins Tribute (1200m) early in her 2014 campaign and finished third amongst classy competitive in the Group 3 Mumm Stakes (1100m) upon resuming in spring. Allocated the ideal barrier 5, first-up jockey Glyn Schofield has been confirmed to retain the ride on Lilliburlero, who will carry just 55kgs in the 2015 Millie Fox Stakes.
Arguably the country’s most talented current racehorse yet to break through for a win at the highest level, Catkins was leave from the somewhat wide barrier 7 in the Millie Fox Stakes and has been charged with carrying a race-high 57kgs. Finishing outside the top three only twice in ten 2014 starts, the Dubawi mare won the Group 3 Sheraco Stakes (1200m) upon resuming in spring; placing second in the Group 3 Golden Pendant (1400m) second-up before running third in each of the Group 2 Tristarc Stakes (1400m) and Group 1 Myer Classic (1600m). Punters may find value in adding Catkins as a selection in a 2015 Millie Fox Stakes quinella or trifecta bet.
Plucky Belle ($26)
Plucky Belle secured several commendable results over the 2014 Autumn Carnival, and after a good freshen-up and tune-up when sixth in the Breeders’ Classic, appears primed for a return to competitive form this weekend. Unlucky to place second in the Group 3 Birthday Card Stakes (1200m) when blocked for a run twice and squeezed out, Plucky Belle progressed to fourth in the Group 2 Sapphire Stakes (1200m) before again placing a close second in the Group 3 Darley Crown (1300m) most notably in May.
