Talented mare Catkins was impressive when taking out the Group 2 Breeders’ Classic (1200m) first-up on February 8th, and will be aiming to continue her perfect campaign start in the 2015 Millie Fox Stakes.

Progressing to an impressive win in the Group 3 Wiggle Stakes (1400m) following her 2014 Breeders’ Classic victory, the Dubawi mare placed third in the Group 1 Coolmore Classic (1500m) before returning to the winner’s circle in the Group 2 Emancipation Stakes (1500m) most notably on April 5th.

Returning in spring for a first-up win in the Group 3 Sheraco Stakes (1200m), Catkins was unlucky to be checked early when second ion the Group 3 Golden Pendant (1400m) on September 27th, and returned to the paddock after placing third in both the Group 2 Tristarc Stakes (1400m) and Group 1 Myer Classic (1600m).

A Group 1 winner, Kirramosa was unable to reach the same racing highs through 2014 but has reportedly worked well in the lead-up to her return in the 2015 Millie Fox Stakes.

Securing four wins and one minor place over her 12 start career so far, Kirramosa charged home to win the 2013 edition of the Group 2 Wakeful Stakes (2000m) before breaking through for a maiden victory at the highest level in the Group 1 Crown Oaks (2500m).

Placing a credible sixth in each of the Group 2 Missile Stakes (1200m) and Group 2 Theo Marks Stakes (1400m) upon returning last spring, the Alamosa mare appeared to be improving more when fifth in the Group 2 Shannon Stakes (1500m) on September 27th, but returned to the paddock when beating just one runner home in the Group 1 Caulfield Stakes (2000m) a fortnight later.

Having taken out a strong Randwick barrier trial on February 10th, Kirramosa will be typically difficult to beat in the 2015 Millie Fox Stakes.

Lilliburlero finished an agonizingly-close second to Catkins in the Breeders’ Classic first-up, and will be aiming to go one better this weekend after being included in Millie Fox Stakes nominations.

Taking out the Group 3 Triscay Stakes (1200m) upon returning in 2014, Lilliburlero ran second in the Group 3 Roy Higgins Tribute (1200m) three weeks later and continued to work towards a credible fourth in the Group 3 Dark Jewel Classic (1400m) on May 17th.

Unable to make much of an impact over three spring starts, trainer David Payne is eyeing the Group 1 Coolmore Classic as the major targets for the daughter of Redoute’s Choice this time and is confident of a return to the winner’s circle on Saturday.

A final field and barrier draw for the 2015 Millie Fox Stakes is due to be completed and released by midday Wednesday.
