Millie Fox Stakes History

Since the inception of the Millie Fox Stakes in 1996, some top sprinters have claimed victory including November Flight in 2008 and Tivoli Dancer in 2005. The race record is held by Dashing Eagle who ran a time of 1:08.4 in 1997, ridden by J. Marshall who also rode Chlorophyll to victory the previous year.

The Millie Fox Stakes began as a Listed race run over 1200 metres. In 2006 the distance was increased an extra 100 metres, and the following year the race reached its current group three status. In 2001 and 2002 the event was registered under the name the Millie Fox Handicap, before returning to its original title.

Millie Fox Stakes Betting

Because of the quality handicap conditions, the better fillies and mares often dominate in the Millie Fox Stakes. Look for race entries who have been steadily improving over their campaign, but that may not have won any major races and therefore have a lower weight advantage. This has in the past proven to be a profitable tip for bettors wagering on the lower weighted entries, as the first six winners of the Millie Fox Stakes all carried the weights of 52 – 53kg, with the exception Dashing Eagle who carried 55kg in 1997. However, in recent years the victorious females have all been more heavily weighted, averaging around 55kg, which means that the higher performing runners are making a name for themselves in the Millie Fox Stakes.
